But the excitement doesn’t stop there—prepare to be fully immersed in the world of sharks with Discovery’s Shark Week VIP Experience. This jaw-dropping activation features Discovery Shark Week giveaways, IG-ready photo ops, and a nostalgic 1975-inspired atmosphere that will take you deep into the depths of the awe-inspiring world of sharks.

Jaws at 50: A Deeper Dive

In celebration of the 50th anniversary of Jaws, the Martha’s Vineyard Museum presents a landmark exhibition exploring the making of a cinematic phenomenon—and the Island community that made it possible.
From the creation of the film’s infamous mechanical shark to the transformation of Martha’s Vineyard into the fictional Amity Island, Jaws at 50: A Deeper Dive invites visitors behind the scenes and beneath the surface of Spielberg’s blockbuster. Through rare photographs, original storyboards, props, oral histories, and interactive elements, the exhibition traces the journey of Jaws from concept to cultural icon.
Learn how Island locals helped bring the film to life, step inside the world of Amity’s most memorable scenes, and explore the real-world biology and conservation of great white sharks in a dedicated section created in partnership with the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy. Highlights include a life-size replica of Bruce the Shark’s head, a scaled recreation of the Orca interior cabin (on view for a limited time), and opportunities to share your own Jaws memories.
Whether you’re a lifelong fan or discovering the film for the first time, this exhibition offers a fresh look at a story that continues to thrill, inspire, and bring people together—50 years later.

June 20 – Jaws Deep Dive: A FINatic’s Look at a Classic Film (9:30 AM – 12:30 PM): Historian and Jaws expert Bow Van Riper offers an in-depth exploration of what makes Jaws a masterpiece, using film clips and stills to delve into the film’s enduring brilliance.
June 21 – Growing Up with ‘Uncle Quint’: Life on the Set of Jaws and Beyond (1 PM): Author Christopher Shaw Myers, nephew of Robert “Quint” Shaw, shares stories about growing up with his legendary uncle and provides behind-the-scenes insights on Jaws.
June 21 – Wendy Benchley: Half Century Reflections From Jaws to Ocean Conservation (4 PM): Renowned ocean advocate Wendy Benchley discusses her journey from the Jaws set to global conservation efforts, highlighting groundbreaking marine research and shark protection initiatives.
June 22 – Meet Joe Alves: Jaws and Beyond (11 AM): Legendary Production Designer Joe Alves joins biographer Dennis L. Prince to discuss his groundbreaking career and iconic work on Jaws. A book signing will follow.
June 22 – On the Job with Deputy Hendricks (2 PM): Emmy Award-winning actor Jeffrey Kramer (Deputy Hendricks) shares behind-the-scenes stories from Jaws, including cut scenes and on-set moments. [This event is sold out.]
June 22 – Reunion Day: In collaboration with the Vineyard Gazette Media Group, enjoy a day-long celebration featuring movie memorabilia, live performances, and meet-and-greets with Island residents who participated in the film’s production. Attendees will receive a complimentary copy of the JAWS at 50: Commemorative Anniversary Magazine, filled with rarely seen photos from the film shoot.
June 23 – Museum Open to the Public: A rare Monday opening! Explore the Museum, including Jaws at 50: A Deeper Dive, featuring exclusive behind-the-scenes artifacts and stories.
June 23 – Orca Model: FINatic Send-off with Cort Corino (11 AM): Cort shares how he recreated a full-scale version of the Orca cabin using movie props, screenshots, and meticulous research.

Several incredible individuals will be joining us for the JAWS 50th Anniversary celebration. Alongside Jeffrey Voorhees, we will welcome Jeffrey Kramer, who is famously recognized as Hendricks, the lovable deputy sheriff who infused the film with unique charm, securing a special place in the hearts of all of us fans. The legendary Joe Alves, the film’s production designer, whose visionary work was crucial in bringing JAWS to life, will also be joining us. Without Joe Alves, the film we know and love might not exist as it does today. Additionally, acclaimed author Dennis Prince will be joining Joe for the launch of their new book, Adventures in Film Design.
