The Steamship Authority, the primary ferry service to the Vineyard, welcomes dogs on board. However, there are a few rules to keep in mind. Dogs must be kept on a leash or in a crate while on the ferry, and you’ll need to stay in designated pet areas or on the vehicle deck during the trip.

Lighthouse Beach and Fuller Street Beach (Edgartown)
Lighthouse and Fuller Street are two ends of the same picturesque beach that allows dogs year round.  However during nesting season, some parts are roped off. While it’s a quieter spot, it’s worth visiting for its scenic views and peaceful ambiance.

Inkwell Beach (Oak Bluffs)
Inkwell Beach is a well-known spot in Oak Bluffs, and while it does require dogs to be on a leash, it’s a lovely location to visit with your dog.  During the summer (May 15-September 15) dogs are allowed before 8am, and after 5pm.
