  • Katama: Located on 137 Katama Road, this is the perfect spot to grab a free little book before heading to South Beach.
  • Menemsha: this little library, called Debba’s By-The-Sea is the only library up-island, so make sure to check it out!

The Best Beach Reading Spots on Martha’s Vineyard

There’s nothing quite like the combination of a good book and a relaxing day at the beach. Martha’s Vineyard is home to some of the most beautiful beaches in New England, making it the perfect destination for beach reading.

Author Crispin Haskins, who has written four books about the island, shares his favorite beach reading spots:

“Books and beaches are a natural for me. I love to head up-island early in the morning and read on Moshup Beach. If I’m staying down-island, I’ll take the On Time Ferry to Chappaquiddick and read on the beach across from the Edgartown Lighthouse. That’s Vineyard paradise right there.”

Whether you’re reading Haskins’ latest release or another favorite novel, these beaches offer a tranquil escape for readers.

Cozy Fireside Reading Spots

As the weather cools down, there’s something special about reading by a warm fireplace. The island offers several cozy spots where you can enjoy a good book while the fire crackles in the background. These are ideal places to visit in the fall or winter:
